Last week I launched my first Twitter giveaway.

Safe to say it was a success.

I gained 250 followers in 24 hours.

And it really wasn’t that hard.

To be honest - considering the amount of work I actually put into it,

I was shocked at how much success it had.

Here’s how I doubled my following in just one day:

Have a Useful Product

So you want to launch a giveaway?

The first, and most important thing you need to figure out is what you will be giving away.

I can’t stress how important it is that you create a useful product.

Nobody’s going to want a giveaway about the 10 best pizza toppings.

(It’s chicken, sweetcorn and chorizo btw)

It should be pretty easy to work out what kind of stuff would be valuable.

For me, I had a lot of people asking me how I was able to get sustained growth on Twitter,

I had posted a few Tweets about my growth, and I had a tonne of DMs and comments asking for my strategy.

So, that’s what I gave away.

If you’re struggling to come up with an idea, here’s a tip:

What would you have found valuable to know 3 months ago?

Create a product around that.

Create a Banger Post

The next thing you’ll need to focus on is what you’ll post on Twitter.

How will you get people to “buy” your giveaway?

I did a few things,

Firstly, tweet a couple of things showing people why they should use your product.

For me, that meant showing off the results of my strategy (more followers, impressions, engagement etc.)

Secondly, tease the giveaway.

Create a demand, put out a feeler and see how many people are actually interested in your product.

I combined a milestone tweet, with the announcement of a giveaway. That way it spread the message of what I was launching - and ultimately got people excited about the launch.

The third, and most important thing, is making a fire launch tweet.

Here’s mine:

Why is this so good?

• A great hook

• Uses evidence to prove the value

• Doesn’t ask for much (don’t make the mistake of asking for a RT - people are way less likely to RT)

• Uses specific numbers

If you nail the launch post, the giveaway will be a success.

Utilise your Network

This is by far the most underrated step.

I reached out to a handful of my best friends on Twitter and asked them for their support.

About 10 people offered to retweet my giveaway to their audience which helped boost my post.

A lot of these people had over 1000 followers.

There is no way in hell my giveaway would have succeeded this much if it wasn’t for my friends.

Do not be afraid to ask your network for help,

If they really are your friend, they’d be happy to help you out.
